Overview:

The system design engineer Provide the support to all projects for the all RCS Systems/Product used in the projects; both for wayside and indoor equipment, products including the interfaces with No Alstom products. Take over the new Alstom products/features then introduce them to the application engineers and into the old and new markets.

Support some other systems in all their lifecycle phases: development, realization, maintenance, and obsolescence.

Support all the other activities of the team regarding his technical background and past working experience. Be involved in some activities related to manufacturing and production

Specific responsibilities of the role:

  • Defines the Signalling System Architectures according to the Technical inputs and in relation to the customer requirements compliance (including all the interfaces)
  • Customer technical requirements analysis and requirement management (e.g. using specific tool as DOORS)
  • Supervise: products adoption, development, verification & validation, installation, test & maintenance support (e.g. LX, Signals, balises, CBI, TMS, …)
  • Supervise or directly manages the development (or adaptation) of new products
  • Support to production/manufacturing mainly on new products (e.g. FAI, FAT, Test specifications & report templates, …) and obsolescence

Experience & Qualification:

  • Engineering (BS+MS) degree in Electronics, Electric or IT. A PhD, an University scholarship or some „connection“ to the research /university world is a plus.
  • Proved experience in Requirement Management, Signalling and System Engineering and/or product development (HW and/or SW). The INCOSE certification is considered a plus.
  • At least a basic knowledge of Project Management practices (PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, … certifications are considered a plus).
  • At least 8 years of working experience in HW and SW systems, HW and SW are both required and at least 6 years in one of them. Of which at least 5 years in the (signalling) railway sector regarding both wayside and technical room products.
  • Good knowledge of product lifecycle management and product installation techniques. Be basically experienced in product obsolescence management.
  • The knowledge of the following norms is mandatory: EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129 and EN 50159. The knowledge of Italian RFI technical norm is mandatory (e.g. IS 402).
  • The basic knowledge CENELEC norms is required.
  • Be familiar with Quality and Product certification processes (e.g. IRIS, ISO 9001, IPC, ...)
  • Skilled in the use of laboratory instrumentation and test methods
  • Skilled in Window and Linux OS, MS Office, Synergy, DOORS
  • English language - advanced
