About the Position: TheAssociate Director, Digital Implementation- Wearable Sensor Devicesprovides consultation, direction, and leadership to digital and decentralized trial staff to ensure operational excellence, consistency, quality, innovation and continuous learning within PPD Digital and Decentralized Services wearables sensor device portfolio of work. This is a highly innovative role in the emerging area of Internet of Medical Things (“IoMT”) applied to clinical research and development for pharmaceutical and biotechnology sponsors. The successful candidate will be a proven leader who is comfortable in both commercial and technology settings.The Associate Director will provide operational support and oversight for our Digital & Decentralized Services group, specifically with wearable sensor devices, connected applications, connectivity, services, and mobile computing devices such as iOS/Android smartphones and tablets He/she serves as a subject matter expert for the Wearable Sensor Devices team for internal and external stakeholders. Oversees internal project operations to minimize potential for risk and maximize client satisfaction. Coordinates and indirectly project manages PPD internal functional team resources. Additional position responsibilities include: Partner with cross-functional leadership on the continuous development and improvement of business processes to support digital team and to ensure that work is uniform, complete and managed appropriately.Develop excellent working relationships with internal colleagues and leaders responsible for the delivery of projects and services to improve information exchange, project delivery, and understanding between groups. Ensure coordination across geographies, therapeutic areas and functions. Achieve superior delivery of projects and services.Provide ongoing consultancy, coaching and feedback to colleagues involved in delivering projects and services on behalf of clients to improve the overall understanding of the client and ability to deliver to the expectations.Utilizes system, tools and reports to identify trends in risks and/or issues that present opportunities to leverage the team influence and expertise.Collaborates with the leadership team and other functional leaders to enable oversight of operational performance, resourcing, financial health/strategy and business planning and execution.Represents their functional area at the governance level and contributes to the compilation of goals and business plan objectives for the strategic partnership *LI-Remote*LI-SH1Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualificationPrevious technical experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 10 years).5 years of management responsibilityExperience working in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or clinical research setting preferredExperience with patient monitoring in remote or clinical settings. Familiarity with regulatory, privacy, information security, and compliance aspects of patient monitoring.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge and understanding of internet security principles (encryption, authentication, authorization, auditing), cloud architectures, device connectivity, and servicesStrong written and oral communication skill setProven ability to lead digital enablement initiatives (wearables, eCOA, telemedicine, etc.) and implementation projects for respective functional areas (programming, testing, project management)Excellent understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), eCOA technology business practices and the current competitive landscape (Recent experience working for an eCOA technology company is strongly preferred)Excellent understanding of the eCOA/Digital Enablement services business under a tech-transfer / tech company partnership model preferredExcellent knowledge of the software development lifecycle and its application in digital enablement technologyExcellent understanding software programming practices (i.e. eCOA, digital enablement, and virtual trial eClinical software)Strong financial acumen with emphasis on budgeting, forecasting and resource management in project driven environmentsExcellent judgment and decision-making capability with ability to apply critical and analytical thinking skills and manage complex/ambiguous situationsStrong interpersonal skills and influencing at all levels, including the capability to build strong relationships in a matrix organizationCapable of building a strong network of influential peopleStrong understanding of regulatory guidelines and directivesCultural awareness with ability to work across geographies and culturesExpert in process improvement techniquesCapable of executing strategic plans through leveraging relationships and influencing others through strategic thinking At PPD clinical research services we hire the best, develop ourselves and each other, and recognise the power of being one team.
