Service Department South Africa currently operates and services 8 wind farms throughout South Africa. A fleet of over 236 turbines, producing over 500 M/W.The department is expanding with 4 new wind farms expected to be in production by early 2021, taking the combined output to over 900 M/W. The department currently consists of 45 staff members. Service > Service Operations > Blades The global Operational Support department (GOS), is part of the global service structure within Vestas Organization. The aim of GOS department is to answer all challenges and requests that Vestas Customers across the globe can have, we are involved in the newest technologies of the wind industry, in emerging and consolidated markets, on Vestas and non-Vestas Wind Turbines Technologies. We are the ones who deal with the challenges of the wind industry having on our side the Global Leader in Wind Power. Responsibilities As Blade Technician (f/m) you will collaborate at the blades maintenance process for the wind farms group assigned, including preventive and corrective activities, blades inspection, within the corporate guidelines, quality certifications and legal regulations with the objective of reduction of service costs and to guarantee agreed levels of service. Responsibilities include also the following activities: Execute activities related to the blades maintenance processes to assure service level agreements and minimize service costs Inspect and evaluate the operational level of the blades assessed, register results on maintenance information systems to assure the reliability of the information gathered and compliance of information procedures Act according to safety rules and quality procedures related to blades maintenance activities, from awareness to the auditing process, in order to guarantee service level agreements and compliance of regulations procedures Collaborate with blades reparation process, assessing the complexity of the repair, performing onsite repairs within his technical expertise and internal maintenance procedures, send to workshop if required, posterior control and register results on maintenance information systems to assure service level agreements and minimize service costs Qualifications At least one year in Field Service organization in Vestas or Non-Vestas Turbines Technical diploma (preferably mechanical or electrical) Several years' experience in fiber preparation Very good English skills written and spoken Knowledge in working with MS-Office Teamwork competencies and operational readiness Willingness to travel Ability to work in heights Competencies Fiber works Wind turbines experience as Service or Construction technicians in Vestas or non-Vestas Turbines Ability to constantly climb stairs and ladders 60-125 meters in height, in order to access work area as well as the ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 30 Kg in weight Ability to frequently walk, stand, look up/down, balance, stoop, twist, kneel, and bend and the ability to constantly grip and manually manipulate, often with repetitive motion, items such as, but not limited to, hand tools and turbine parts Comfort constantly working in confined spaces and at heights over 100 meters Ability to speak, read, comprehend, and write in English as well as the ability to successfully participate in all training courses, including controlled decent Comfort working remotely in a Turbine as part of a team with limited supervisory interaction What we offerExiting work experience, the possibility of professional development, incredible travel experiences, technical knowledge sharing across all Vestas organization.
