The Indirect Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly indirect tax filings related to entities in scope, including but not limited to Sales/Use Tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), Gross Receipts Tax, Business & Occupation Tax, Business Licenses.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to
Prepare and report monthly indirect tax filings, including but not limited to Sales/Use Tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), Gross Receipts Tax and Business & Occupation Tax, as per Compliance calendar and Tax Authorities regulations
Research tax clearance and tax refund requests
Prepare journal entries and related schedules for indirect tax specific general ledger accounts
Participate in the Indirect Tax Compliance close process and meet stringent deadlines
Assume an active role in researching issues, coordinating and communicating with cross-functional teams, and presenting recommendations to management
Proactive identification of process improvement opportunities
Solve problems while handling multiple assignments
Maintain Tax Calendar ensuring all tax due dates are met and updating metrics upon request
Minimum Requirements
3 + years of accounting or Indirect Tax experience
Ability to use the Microsoft Suite Programs including an advanced knowledge of Excel
Thorough knowledge of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles)
US use tax accrual experience will be a plus
Understanding of indirect tax research
CMI/CTA or similar tax certification (or working towards)
