The Fitbit Research team is a cross-functional team developing exciting sensors and experiences for consumer health applications. As part of the Fitbit Research team, you will help the team work on backend infrastructure and application programming interface (API) to store and retrieve data.Fitbit’s diverse line of innovative products of smartwatches, trackers and smart scale help people lead healthier, more active lives by empowering them with data, inspiration and guidance to reach their health and fitness goals. Our products deliver personalized experiences, insights and guidance through leading software and interactive tools to support our users’ health and wellness. Partnering with Google will expand our resources and global platform, and we will be able to accelerate innovation in the wearables category to scale faster, and make health even more accessible to everyone. Responsibilities Design, develop, test, deploy, and monitor consumer health features.Develop frameworks to store and retrieve consumer health data accessed by the Fitbit app.Collaborate with different teams inside Fitbit and Google (e.g., Identity, Product Security, Customer Support, Product Management, feature development teams, Cloud Infrastructure, Database Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering).Minimum qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.Experience in software development, using one or more general purpose programming languages (Java, Python, JavaScript, Go).Experience in architecting and developing distributed systems.Ability to speak and write in English fluently.Preferred qualifications:Experience with Apache Kafka, Cassandra, Mesos, Aurora, Node JS, Docker, Google Cloud Platform, or similar.Experience in working with available and scalable distributed systems.Experience with electronic health records, health data storage, and interoperability.
