The Sr. Project and Program Manager provides project management services to all CIOX functional areas and GRC business units using the appropriate methodology for each project (e.g., waterfall, Agile, or a hybrid approach.).

You will work closely with stakeholders to develop and executes project/program plans to meet strategic objectives and goals. This includes managing day-to-day project tasks to ensure project teams deliver on project objectives within scope, schedule, and budget. Communicating appropriately with stakeholders including metrics (burndowns, estimates to completion, spend, etc.) is a key component of these services.

You will also supports CIOx functional areas and GRC business unit with best practice governance on a broad range of topics such as how to effectively on-board and off-board resources, how to document processes and procedures, how to create training materials, create effective change management plans, and administering some department tools/technology. 
 

Responsibilities:

  • Understands and supports the framework to ensure projects and programs are prioritizedand align to the GRC strategic roadmap and yield the desired results.

  • Within the existing Program Services project framework,determines which methodology is required to effectively manage multiple inter-connected large-scale, complex programs.

  • Builds a strong relationship with key program stakeholders to understand their strategic objectives and products/services.

  • Articulates the program status and outcomes appropriately to all stakeholders, including making presentations to GRC executives.

  • Builds a strong relationship with key vendors, contractors, cross-functional project teams and project managers to ensure all inter-connectedprojects are meeting scope, schedule and budget objectives.

  • Works with Procurement to negotiate contracts as needed.

  • Develops and implements effective communication plans, designed to drive strategic discussions with portfolio stakeholders; handles escalations or further escalates so that issues do not impact scope, schedule or budget.

  • Develops resource estimates, and identifies subject-matter-expertise required to effectively staff multiple inter-connected large-scale, complex programs.

  • Negotiates with resource managers on availability of all needed resources.

  • Provides management and oversight for project managers to ensure project tasks and all necessary artifacts (e.g., charter, operating agreements) are approved and stored.

  • Ensures thatproject managers utilize industry-standard project, program and change management best practices.

  • Ensures that the project managers are helping their teams to Identify all project risks and creating plans to manage (accept, avoid, mitigate, transfer.)

  • Ensuresthat all required program artifacts (charter, change requests, etc.) are executed and stored correctly; ensures that all project teams and project managers comply with methodologies established; conducts periodic audits to ensure compliance.

  • Responsible for forecasting and control of the program budget (revenue and costs)to ensure the entire programrealizes the expected financial & business benefits (e.g., revenue, cost savings etc.).

  • Provides a monthly (at minimum) program review to provide a rolled up report of all scope, schedule, budgets, and quality as per the established Program Services metrics.

  • Identifies and helps remove program roadblocks. Servesas escalation path resource for project managers/project coordinators.

  • Provides performance feedback about project team members to resource managers as needed.

  • Ensure projects are closed upon completion (resources released, team celebrations and rewards are requested, lessons learned are conducted, and final status update is produced, etc.)

  • Ensure that project managers/coordinators understand the closing process and available recognition/rewards available to teams.

  • Interact with other Wolters Kluwer departments and external agencies, customers, alliance partners, and industry associations as needed to facilitate development and to manage risks

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Technical field (such as Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Management, Marketing, or related discipline).

  • 6-9 years’ experience managing multiple, large-scale, complex, cross-functional projects/programs such as software product development, product/service implementation or marketing.

  • Excellentknowledge of Project/Program Management principles/methodologies (e.g., waterfall and Agile) and the ability to coach and mentor less experienced project managers.

  • Professional certification (PgMP, CMP or A-CSM) and active participation in professional societies such as a PMI chapter or desire to achieve certification(s).

  • Excellent working knowledge of the major technologies that support project managementincluding, but not limited to,Workflow tools (Gemini, JIRA, Smartsheet), back office ERP systems (SAP).

  • Excellent process management skills — skilled at figuring out the processes necessary to get things done, knows how to organize people and activities, knows how to separate and combine tasks into efficient work flow.

  • Excellent planning skills — can work with project team to accurately scope out length and difficulty of milestone, break work down into tasks, develop schedules for multiple, inter-connected projects and teams, anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks, measure performance against goals across the program, and evaluate results.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and interpersonal) with team member, stakeholders and customers—effective in a variety of informal and formal settings.

  • Excellent decision-making skills—can make quality decisions in a timely manner.

  • Possesses strong conflict resolutions skills.

  • Excellent ability to effectively cope with change and shift gears comfortably.

  • Strong ability to thrive in a fast-paced, self-managing, team-based, dynamic environment

  • Research and procurefunctional and technical knowledge and programs needed to support the programs.

  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, PowerBI) and Adobe Acrobat to create effective project projections/forecastsand communications.

  • Proficiency in English required.

  • Proficiency in a second language preferred.
