Oracle Utilities – Senior Solution Engineer
Oracle Utilities Global Business Unit is focused on utilities (electricity, gas, water) specific solutions, deployed globally by many of the major utility companies.
We are looking for a Senior Solution Engineer who will focus on:
- Integrating Oracle Utilities products for demonstrations and proof of concepts
- Creating customer specific demonstrations and proof of concepts
- Creating technical architectures for customer proposals
- Responding to tenders, by providing technical answers to product questions from customers
- Providing technical support to the sales teams and partners
- Provisioning and testing demo environments
As a Senior Solution Engineer you have the chance to develop in a very broad spectrum, ranging from product expertise, customer interaction, communication and IT market knowledge. Successful solution engineers are highly demanded individuals who can develop a career in many different IT (and non-IT) functions.
We are looking for professionals who hold a University degree in Computer Science, Power Engineering, or comparable. In addition, experience with technology software products is required. Ideally with Oracle’s solution, but experience with non-Oracle solutions is helpful as well.
PROFILE:
The role of Senior Solution Engineer brings together the expertise areas of technology (infrastructure) and solutions (functional applications). You need to be able to understand technology and how it supports business applications; developing a good understanding of technical architectures is a major part of your role!
Provides direction and specialist knowledge in applying the Oracle technology/applications to customers’ business. Facilitates customer product/application understanding through presentations, demonstrations and benchmarks; provisions support throughout the selling process.
To fulfill the role of Senior Solution Engineer we are looking for individuals who match the following profile:
Your Technical Skills and Knowledge :
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
- Enterprise integration services, including REST based APIs, SOAP Web Services and use of different integration connectors and orchestration services
- Strong understanding of service-oriented architecture
- Good knowledge and experience with Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Service Bus, or other Middleware Technologies
- Java and JavaScript + HTML+ CSS knowledge are a plus
- Relational databases (Oracle) / Knowledge of Oracle SQL & PL/SQL are a plus
- Oracle WebLogic Application Server, Linux Administration represents an advantage
- Oracle Integration Cloud knowledge will be a plus
- Knowledge of one Oracle Utilities application and understanding of the data model is a plus
- Cloud (Platform & Infrastructure) experience is a big plus
- Experience in the utilities industry (electric, gas, water), understanding of utility business processes such as metering, billing and workforce management are a plus

Provides direction and specialist knowledge in applying the technology/application to client business. Facilitation of customer product/application understanding through presentations demonstrations and benchmarks; provision of support throughout the sell.
As a Senior Sales Consultant you will be responsible for providing presales technical / functional support to prospective clients and customers while ensuring customer satisfaction with minimal supervision. Acts as a technical resource for less experienced Sales Consultants. Develop and deliver high quality standard Oracle presentations and demonstrations. Present and articulate advanced product features and benefits, product future direction and overall Oracle solutions. Design, validate, and present Oracle software solutions to include advanced product concepts, future direction, and 3rd party complimentary products. Develop and manage reference sites through high quality technical, professional client relationships.
Job duties are varied and complex, needing independent judgment. May have project lead role. 5 years vendor (sales and marketing) experience. 5 years relevant computer applications or database/tools. Demonstrated proficiency in one multi-user operating system. Through knowledge of system and application design. Strong verbal and written communication skills: needs analysis, positioning, business justification, closing techniques. Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems with accounts in complex technical environments. Ability to travel as needed. BS degree or equivalent; advanced degree desirable.
