The Role:
- Adopt DevOps mindset and CI/CD practices to become an autonomous engineer
- Get involved in designing, building and maintaining the cloud infrastructure
- Review and tune the services SLA/SLI/SLT definitions and develop tailored and noise-free monitoring and alerting
- Identify and drive opportunities to improve automation for the team (deployment, management of our services, self-healing mechanisms)
- Assure security baseline for infrastructure and operations
- Troubleshoot issues across the stack focusing on permanent fixes and automation instead of point-fixes
- Uses best practices, articulates ideas, & markets them across team and organization. Promotes a culture of continuous learning
- Communicates clearly with the team and management to define & achieve goals.
- Participate in a on-call schedule and rotation
What you will need to succeed:
- Practical knowledge of programing languages used with the purpose of Availability, Scalability or Automation: scripting(Python, Perl, Ruby) or object-oriented (Java, javascript)
- Experience with Linux system administration and programming
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Salt, Spinnaker
- Experience with large scale application development and operations
- Knowledge with monitoring tools and frameworks such as Nagios, OpsView
- Solid foundation of software development process and best practices
- Practice an automation mindset over doing repetitive tasks
Bonus points:
- Practical experience with Public Cloud providers (AWS, Azure etc)
- Deep understanding of networking concepts and internet protocols
- General databasese experience, both SQL and NoSQL
- Knowledge in distributed processing platforms such as Apache Hadoop, HBase or Cassandra
- Experience with container-based orchestration systems such as Kubernetes
