Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team is building new cloud technologies that can be scaled to operate in a globally distributed, multi-tenant cloud environment for Enterprise Customers. Our mission is to provide our Customers with best-in-class native cloud services including compute, storage, networking, database, and security.
Would you like to help establish OCI as a leader in customer service? Would you like to be part of a team focused on making sure Customer Support Engineers have the technical documentation they need to troubleshoot customer issues quickly and efficiently so that we can make our customers happy? Do you have industry experience, a passion for the customer experience, and a technical background to accelerate the contributions you can make in this role?
This role is an integral part of the Customer Experience Knowledge Management team. Our team works with our development teams to ensure technical content exists in a consistent format in our Knowledge Base and is easily accessible to our Support Engineers to use when troubleshooting customer issues. The Technical Writers are responsible for making sure this information is clear, concise, accurate, and compliant, and will be responsible for implementing feedback and proposed edits to this documentation as well to keep the content updated and relevant. The Technical Writer is in a key position to remove obstacles for Customer Support and make an impact in an exciting, growing team.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communication from an accredited University
- 7+ years of enterprise technical writing experience
- 5+ years working in a technical enterprise environment working with technical leaders, software developers, solution architects, etc.
- Proficiency in MS Word
Must have:
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills; you must be able to prepare written communication and convey information clearly with an approachable, conversational tone
- Demonstrated proficiency in understanding user requirements and addressing those requirements in documentation and instructional videos
- Experience with and knowledge of a range of visual information design techniques
- Ability to quickly learn and communicate technical concepts and procedures
- Ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize, schedule, and meet aggressive deadlines; proven track record of delivering on time and to quality metrics
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently and as part of a larger, virtual team; ability to develop working relationships with other internal groups to meet objectives and complete tasks
- Organized, professional, motivated, and deft at making quick decisions
- Proven ability to think critically, solve problems, and take initiative
Nice to have:
- Understanding of and experience Customer Services processes
- Experience working with an XML-based authoring tool and with video development software
- Passion to stay current with industry trends and related technology
- Broad understanding of and experience with agile software design and management

Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits operational, instructional, maintenance, test or user manuals for paper, multimedia or web-based publications. Contributes to the timely design, production and delivery/completion of product documentation and document sets.
As a member of the technical writing division, you will design, create and deliver whole product documentation sets and/or related courseware. Edit, organize and direct the work activities of other technical writers and staff. Plan the format, arrange the layout of publications and edit work for conformance to publication standards and specifications.
Duties and tasks are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
