Environmental Engineer in Victoria

JOB DESCRIPTION

Purolite, an Ecolab company, is recruiting an Environmental Specialist, a key role responsible for ensuring environmental compliance and driving continuous improvement in environmental performance at site level.

What you’ll do: 

  • Ensure compliance with national and European environmental legislation, permit conditions, and Ecolab requirements.
  • Maintain and update the Environmental Legal Compliance Register and monitor the level of compliance.
  • Manage relationships with environmental authorities (Environmental Protection Agency, Environmental Guard, Romanian Waters).
  • Prepare, submit, and track mandatory statutory environmental reports.
  • Coordinate the maintenance, renewal, and compliance of environmental permits and approvals.
  • Collaborate with external consultants on environmental impact studies, permit updates, and technical documentation.
  • Organize and monitor environmental monitoring programs and define corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate the site-level waste management system and propose waste reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborate with authorized operators for waste transportation and disposal/recovery.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects (TPM / Kaizen) related to environmental performance and waste optimization.
  • Maintain and further develop the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and manage the closure of potential environmental non-conformities.
  • Develop environmental training materials.
  • Deliver environmental training sessions for employees and contractors regarding environmental obligations.
  • What you'll need: 

  • Bachelor's degree (Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry / Chemical Engineering, or related fields);
  • Relevant experience in environmental protection, preferably in an industrial environment;
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, waste management, and environmental management systems (ISO 14001);
  • Good communication and collaboration skills with authorities and external partners;
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with a solution-oriented mindset;
  • English language proficiency – intermediate to advanced level.
