We realize that new ideas can come from everywhere in the organization, and we know the next big idea could be yours!The Opportunity We are seeking a seasoned and passionate engineer with expertise in large-scale, network-based, high availability application development to join the growing Adobe I/O team.Adobe I/O provides a central development platform for delivering, managing and tracking APIs. The I/O API Platform is used by internal Adobe developers as well as external 3rd-party developers via www.adobe.io. Our solutions support high traffic, high visibility applications with immense amounts of data, numerous third-party integrations, and challenging scaling problems. Our API Platform team builds the foundation for new cloud products and REST-based services at Adobe.Internally, we follow open development practices that allow anyone in the company to contribute to the platform. Externally, we contribute as much of our work as possible to open source projects -- including projects started by our team.What you'll Do Contribute extensively in the analysis, design, prototype and implementation of new features and improving existing onesEnsure that our multi-hundred node API Gateway service is always running at peak performance and throughput. Envision, design and build the tools and solutions to keep the system healthy and responsive.Automate all parts of the system, from deploying to self-healing mechanismsMaintain and improve existing monitoring and alerting systemIdentify and drive opportunities to improve automation (deployment, management and visibility of our services).Troubleshoot issues across the stack focusing on permanent fixes and automation instead of point-fixesWhat you need to succeed Professional experience with any of Java/Lua/C/C++/Go programming languagesPractical knowledge of shell scripting and at least one scripting language such as Python, Perl, RubyExperience with Linux system administration and programmingIn-depth understanding of networking concepts and internet protocolsExperience with large scale application development and operationsKnowledge with monitoring tools and frameworks such as Prometheus, Nagios, Zabbix etcSolid foundation of software development process and standard methodologiesMust prefer automation over repetitive tasksBonus pointsExperience with Public Cloud providers (AWS, Azure, etc.)Deep understanding of orchestration systems such as Kubernetes
