YOUR MISSION

As the Strategic Brand Manager for Tobacco in Romania, you will own the commercial growth and strategic direction of one of Glovo’s most profitable and complex categories. You will act as the primary link between global tobacco brands and the Glovo platform, driving high-impact Joint Business Plans (JBPs) and maximizing brand investment through innovative media and advertising strategies. Your mission is to balance aggressive commercial upselling with operational excellence, ensuring a seamless user experience while navigating the highly regulated tobacco landscape in Romania.

THE JOURNEY

Commercial Strategy & Brand Partnerships

  • Annual JBP Negotiation: Lead the negotiation and execution of annual Joint Business Plans (JBPs) with major tobacco partners (, BAT) to secure long-term growth and commitment.

  • Media & Ads Management: Develop and implement tailored media plans to maximize brand engagement and advertising spend within the app.

  • Upselling & Monetization: Drive significant revenue growth by proactively upselling Glovo’s visibility assets and commercial levers to tobacco brands.

  • Demand Steering: Steer customer demand toward the most profitable and high-performing channels, ensuring a balance between profit maximization and superior UX.

  • Operational Excellence & Compliance

  • Regulatory Alignment: Work in lockstep with the legal and compliance teams to ensure all activities strictly adhere to evolving tobacco laws and regulations in Romania.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Retail Account Managers to optimize POS performance at the store level and with the Tobacco Operation Specialist to troubleshoot issues like "fake store" fail rates and order fulfillment channels.

  • Performance Monitoring: Utilize data-driven insights to monitor category performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks in the end-to-end tobacco order flow.

  • Qualifications

    WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE RIDE

  • Stakeholder & Relationship Management: Proven ability to build trust-based, long-term relationships with partners. You act as a reliable point of contact who ensures the operational machine runs smoothly and partner issues are resolved with speed. You will work closely with the QC Director, HQ team, Operations and Retail Teams.

  • Commercial Skills: You will be architecting a year-long strategic roadmap and you must be a "hunter" in upselling, identifying untapped budgets and pitching high-impact media plans that maximize Advertising Spend while maintaining a healthy Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) for our partners. 

  • Analytical Rigor: Proficiency in data-driven decision-making. You can run detailed analyses to identify patterns and root causes of performance deviations and communicate clear, evidence-backed rationale to stakeholders.

  • Problem Solving: An issue-driven mindset with the ability to act quickly and decisively. You prioritize the largest immediate risks to the business and execute commercial playbooks to restore performance.

  • Experience & Skills:

  • Experience: 3+ years in Account Management, Brand Management, or Business Development, ideally within FMCG or highly regulated sectors (health, betting, tobacco,...)

  • Tobacco Expertise: Strong understanding of the tobacco industry and its regulatory environment is highly preferred.

  • Upselling Ability: Demonstrated success in closing high-value commercial deals and driving advertising revenue.

  • Language: Fluency in Romanian and English is mandatory.
