Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Consultant – Cardiac Anesthesia & ICU to provide specialized anesthesia and critical care services for patients undergoing cardiac surgery and complex cardiovascular procedures. The successful candidate will deliver expert perioperative management, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, and intensive care support while collaborating with cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide anesthesia care for adult and complex cardiac surgical procedures.
- Conduct pre-operative assessment and optimize patients prior to surgery.
- Develop individualized anesthesia plans based on patient condition and surgical requirements.
- Manage intraoperative anesthesia, hemodynamic monitoring, and critical events.
- Provide post-operative management for cardiac surgery patients in ICU.
- Manage ventilated patients and critically ill cardiovascular cases.
- Perform advanced procedures including invasive monitoring and emergency interventions.
- Participate in multidisciplinary cardiac team discussions.
- Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines, patient safety standards, and hospital protocols.
- Supervise and support junior medical staff and trainees.
- Participate in clinical audits, research, and quality improvement activities.
Requirements
Requirements
Education
- Medical Degree (MD/MBBS or equivalent).
- Board certification or fellowship in Cardiac Anesthesia / Cardiothoracic Anesthesia.
- Valid specialist medical license.
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in cardiac anesthesia and ICU care.
- Proven experience managing cardiac surgical patients.
- Experience in tertiary care cardiovascular hospitals preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in cardiac anesthesia, perioperative medicine, and intensive care.
- Advanced skills in airway management, invasive monitoring, and critical care procedures.
- Knowledge of cardiac surgical pathways and ICU management.
- Strong clinical decision-making and emergency management abilities.
- Effective communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fellowship in Cardiac Anesthesia or Cardiac Critical Care.
- ACLS certification.
- Experience with ECMO, mechanical circulatory support, and advanced cardiac ICU care.
