The Data Modeling / SQL Development Lead is an expert in analyzing and organizing ELC’s data promoting the accuracy, reusability, integrity, confidentiality and availability of our data assets. Through collaboration with development teams and information consumers across the organization, this lead position designs and develops conceptual, logical, and physical data artifacts, develops standards and best practices, facilitates the maintenance of appropriate metadata, and promotes the use of ELC core data assets across all business processes. Through collaboration with data teams in both the business and IT, the role will contribute to standards and guidelines and influence both data model design and SQL coding best practices. Further, the role will drive the evolution of the EDL Microsoft MDS platform and associated standards and best practices. Key Activities Collaborate with the global team to develop and maintain both data modelling and SQL coding standards and guidelines Works with data modellers on project teams to build out the Enterprise calibre data models and data modelling platform Reviews / validate data models for compliance to standards and alignment with best practices by applying data modelling expertise and knowledge of ELC’s business processes, standards & practices Support data modelling platform and data modelling teams using the platform Maintains Data Modeling platform and supports data modelling practice across functional teams Automates data modelling environment and activities enhancing enterprise modelling practice Performs data model merges and actively drives conflict resolution Supports the Enterprise Data Management function to capture KPI definitions, and business glossaries; has the experience to suggest, evaluate and roll out technical solutions to facilitate the capture and publication of metadata Manages and maintains the EDL Microsoft MDS platform and develops standards and best practices driving commonality and efficiencies across solutions Performs functional analysis of new systems and/or applications to ensure fulfilment of requirements and adherence to existing data management practices, policies, and procedures Responsible for driving data solutions for service requirements by planning and managing data modelling design efforts Apply industry-recognized best practices, compliance standards and techniques to prevent/minimize data redundancies across the organization Participate /lead the evaluation and implementation of data management technologies and solutions Qualifications Functional Capabilities: Understands the information value chain across key process areas in a global enterprise (Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing, R&D etc.) Deep understanding of relational constructs and data integration (ETL) Develops & maintains ELC Data Models: directly contributes and leads data modelling both internal and external to the team. Develops and Maintains data modelling and SQL coding standards Leading, Instructing and supporting a federated data modelling and SQL development community Understands ELC system landscape, Source Systems of Record and develops high-level integration designs to meet data requirements Drives automation of Data Modeling environment facilitating and accelerating the firm’s Data Modeling capabilities Collaborates with data management function to improve data quality, metadata capture, data lineage and data security. Manages Microsoft MDS platform, defines MDS modelling standards and supports MDS user community Strong communications skills to collaborate with the virtual global team and drive consensus with business teams and project teams Pragmatic approach to deliver incremental value to the organization Comfortable within a global, complex, highly matrixed organization Ability to establish credibility and be decisive – but able to recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities Technical Competencies: Expertise in data in key Systems of Records such as SAP ERP data, data from POS systems, external consumer marketing data sets, social media data sets, and machine-generated manufacturing or IoT data sets. Expert in data modelling practices and concepts; proven hands-on data modelling expertise in data modelling tools (strong preference for ERwin); ability to rationalize and migrate logical data models into physical relational implementations including Big Data platforms, Data Lakes, Data Warehouses Excellent SQL and Scripting skills; automating ELC’s data modelling capability, and designing and implementing data access solutions Experience developing SQL coding standards Strong, proven physical data modelling skills & experience optimizing access to data assets Expert in defining semantic layers supporting varying data consumption patterns Experience with master data management concepts & solutions.
