As the Director of Project Controls, you will be the architect of certainty for the multi-billion Euro refurbishment of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant. You will take a CANDU 6 reactor that has powered a nation for 30 years and give it life for 30 more.
We are looking for a battle-tested leader who has "been there, done that" on major nuclear retubes—someone who knows that success isn't just about the schedule, but about working effectively with the complex ecosystem of international consortium partners.
Requirements
The Role
Reporting directly to the Project Director, you will own the Integrated Project Controls System for the Unit 1 Refurbishment. You are the "truth-teller" of the project—the person who translates complex engineering reality into actionable data for executive decision-making.
Your Mandate:
- Establish the Baseline: Build and defend the master schedule and cost baseline for the Refurbishment (MCR/Retube) and Infrastructure upgrades.
- Integrate: Harmonize the reporting and controls systems of the world-class consortium partners into one "Single Source of Truth."
- Predict the Future: Move beyond simple reporting. Use Earned Value Management (EVM) and risk modeling to predict bottlenecks before they impact the critical path.
- Commercial Defense: Manage change control relentlessly. You are the gatekeeper of the budget, ensuring scope creep is identified and managed commercially.
The "Must-Haves" (Who You Are)
You have lived through a Retube/MCR campaign and have the knowledge and experience to prove it.
- CANDU DNA: You possess deep, specific experience with CANDU technology. You understand the unique constraints of a Feeder Replacement or Retube campaign.
- Refurbishment Veteran: You have held a senior leadership role on a major life extension project (e.g., Darlington, Bruce Power MCR, Point Lepreau, or Wolsong).
- Mega-Project Mindset: Experience managing Project Controls for CAPEX exceeding $1 Billion+.
- Consortium Savvy: You know how to influence and lead in a matrix environment where the "team" consists of multiple global EPC giants.
