About the role and the projectThe European Space Agency mission Gaia's mission is one of the most complex astronomy endeavors up-to-date designed and performed in Europe, but also unique at a global scale. The Gaia spacecraft located 1.5 million kilometers from the Earth in the Lagrange Point 2 is not only special because of its unique multi-instrument data collection capabilities, but also because of the complexity of data processing needs, that are covered by a Gaia Data Processing and Analysis Consortium (DPAC) consisting of around 500 scientists and IT specialists. As your daily tasks you will store, curate, present and analyse billions of astronomical time-series as part of ESA Gaia mission. The project will involve interaction with industry and academic liaisons as well. Key competencesmin. 4-5 years of professional experience as a Big Data or GPU Developer,very good knowledge of PostgreSQL/Postgres-XL/TBase,good knowledge of C programming language,experience with the GPU programming paradigm,knowledge of data processing, very good command of the English language. Nice to have:TornadoVM Java-GPU,Intel oneAPI framework. Salary range & conditionsdirect, B2B cooperation with the Client (no outsourcing agencies included), salary up to 9000 CHF per month depending on your experience,3 year contract with possibility to extend,willingness to relocate to Geneva would be a great advantage,optionally: fully remote for experienced Candidates.
