Purpose of the Role
The Head of Safety Heavy Precast is responsible for defining, implementing and maintaining the Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) strategy across Heavy Precast plants, precast construction sites and General Contracting projects. The role ensures full legal compliance, alignment with corporate and ISO standards, and the consistent application of CRH Health & Safety requirements. It drives a proactive safety culture focused on risk prevention, continuous improvement and zero harm across all operations.
Key Responsibilities
Define and support the OH&S strategy, policies and programs in line with legal, ISO 45001 and CRH requirements.
Develop, implement and maintain an effective Health & Safety Management System across the Heavy Precast Division.
Ensure compliance with local legislation, Group procedures, Life Saving Rules and internal reporting standards.
Lead accident, incident, HPLE, recordable and LTI investigations; perform root cause analysis and define corrective actions.
Coordinate and conduct safety governance forums (Safety Committees, Safety Steering Committees, HPLE reviews, learning teams).
Prepare and monitor safety KPIs, dashboards, audits, legal compliance gap analyses and statistical reports.
Design and deliver safety training programs, awareness campaigns and ensure training matrix compliance.
Coach, guide and support leadership and line managers to strengthen safety leadership and succession within the H&S function.
Promote CRH values and foster a proactive, inclusive and collaborative safety culture.
Build and implement continuous improvement plans based on audits, surveys, incidents and operational risks.
Support integration of newly acquired businesses and ensure safe execution of major industrial, CAPEX and maintenance projects.
Collaborate cross-functionally (supply chain, quality, logistics) to embed safety into all processes. Skills and Qualifications
Technical higher education background.
Minimum 10 years of managerial experience in Health & Safety or industrial environments.
Intermediate level of English.
Strong leadership, communication, presentation and influencing skills.
Proactive, well-organized, self-driven and able to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
High proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
Willingness to travel extensively (minimum 50%).
Valid driving license (Category B).
Certifications: Risk Assessor (post-university), 80-hour H&S Inspector, Technical Frame for Fire Protection. What Ferrobeton Offers You
