The Challenge In the quickly changing threat landscape, you will stay on top of new malware variants and improve our detection capabilities where needed. Rapidly changing methods by attackers will keep you busy learning about new security technologies. The Team Our team is creating new technology that achieve best detection and disinfection that is used in Avira products. As a Junior Threat Researcher student, you are strengthening our international team to expose the nasty tactics of malware authors and to help us fight against digital threats. Your ideas will be used as input to push Avira’s new detection technologies to the next level. What you will need You have a positive attitude of getting things done and a keen interest in security field You are highly self-motivated, methodical and able to think outside of the box You are team-oriented and skilled in working within a collaborative environment You are passionate about cybersecurity and interested in learning more about latest malware threats and how security technologies block them You have knowledge of operating systems platforms Windows/Unix/Android/MAC Fundamentals of networking knowledge Optional knowledge in programming and scripting languages (e.g. Python) will help you automate parts of your work as a welcome change What you will do You will learn about latest malware threats prevalent in the wild and techniques used by malware authors You will learn about malware threats hunting techniques and support senior researchers in discovering zero-day threats and create detections to defeat them and protect our customers Analyze malicious executables, scripts, documents, and network packet captures Understand tools that identify zero-day cyber threats and work to protect from them Participate together with senior researchers in research projects or develop new services to automate/sustain classifying malicious threats and prevent potential false positives NortonLifeLock is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
