The Role:The IT Network Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video and wireless network services. This will be achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organisation. In addition, the IT Engineer may be required to participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimisation of all network hardware, software, and communication links. You will also analyse and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, implement applications software and provide end user training where required. You will be responsible for: Designing and deploying company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including Servers, Routers, hubs, Switches, UPSs, and other hardware. Configuring networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes. Monitoring network performance and troubleshooting problem areas as needed. Creating and maintaining documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records. Overseeing installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end user Workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices. Ensuring network connectivity of all Servers, workstations, fax machines, and other network appliances. Managing Servers, including database, e-mail, print, and backup Servers and their associated operating systems and software. Developing, implementing and maintaining policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery. Conducting research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry. Practicing network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information. Monitoring and testing network performance and providing network performance statistics and reports. Overseeing new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades. Participating in managing all network security solutions. Performing server and security audits, and system backups and recovery. Interacting and negotiating with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services. Providing guidance to the IT Technicians. Consulting with system users and keeping them informed of any implications for the service they receive.
