Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Mainframe Production Engineer to join our infrastructure team. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of our mission-critical production environments. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise in z/OS and is proficient in managing batch workloads, transaction environments, and release management tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Operations: Provide end-to-end support for the z/OS environment, ensuring high availability and system health.
- Workload Automation: Design, monitor, and troubleshoot complex batch processing schedules using CA7.
- Middleware & Database Support: Manage and support CICS regions and DB2 interfaces to ensure seamless transactional processing.
- Change & Release Management: Oversee the migration and deployment of software versions using ChangeMan and Endevor, ensuring compliance with internal governance.
- Incident Management: Perform rapid root-cause analysis for production failures (abends) and implement permanent fixes.
- Performance Tuning: Monitor system resources and job performance to identify bottlenecks and optimize the production environment.
- Team Collaboration: Work in a hybrid model, participating in on-site collaboration 2 days per week to align with development and security teams.
Technical Requirements
- Platform Expertise: Solid experience in z/OS systems operations and engineering.
- Scheduling Tools: Advanced knowledge of CA7 (job definition, dependencies, and troubleshooting).
- Online & Data Systems: Hands-on experience with CICS administration and DB2 for Mainframe.
- SCM Tools: Proficiency in ChangeMan and/or Endevor for source code and release management.
- Core Skills: Strong command of JCL, TSO/ISPF, and standard Mainframe utilities (IDCAMS, IEFBR14, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Mainframe security protocols (e.g., RACF, ACF2).
- Scripting knowledge in REXX or CLIST for automation of routine tasks.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Mainview, Omegamon).
- Understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, and Change Management).
