Middle Technical Artist in Bucuresti

About the Role

We are looking for a Middle Technical Artist to join a globally operating, product-driven gaming company that serves a large and active international user base.

This is not a typical art role. You will act as the critical bridge between creative, programming, and engineering teams. You will be responsible for the technical integrity of our games, ensuring that our visual ambitions are matched by high-scale performance and robust engineering standards.

The product operates in a high-load, consumer-facing mobile environment where visual fidelity and technical optimization directly impact user retention and engagement. You will research and develop the technical tools, pipelines, and shaders that empower our artists and engineers to build world-class gaming experiences.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as a key intermediary between the heads of programming and design to align technical possibilities with creative vision.
  • Collaborate with artists and engineers to design, build, and maintain efficient workflows and pipelines for asset creation.
  • Validate game content to ensure all assets are visually stunning while remaining optimally performant for a global mobile audience.
  • Create complex visual effects from concept using simulations, particle systems, and custom shaders (HLSL/GLSL).
  • Develop in-engine scripts and pipeline tools (C# or Python) to facilitate asset management, export, and validation.
  • Bridge the gap from design to engine by implementing fully functional, well-structured, and modular UI screens.
  • Partner with animators and developers to create complex, high-performance interactive sequences and transitions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional experience working with game content in-engine (Unity preferred, Unreal, or equivalent).
  • Hands-on experience with C# or Python, focused on game logic or tool development.
  • Proven experience in shader development, either in-engine or renderer-specific (HyperShade, OSL).
  • Solid understanding of rendering pipelines, lighting techniques, and post-processing effects.
  • Deep understanding of 3D content components, including geometries, topologies, UV maps, and rigging.
  • High-level skills in proportion, color, and composition
  • A strong portfolio or demo reel.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment with high levels of ownership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in modeling, exporting, and scripting (MEL/Python) for Maya.
  • Extensive experience within the Unity ecosystem and C# development.
  • Experience with shader development using GLSL/HLSL.
  • Background in developing for high-load, consumer-facing mobile products.
