We are growing our services using all the major public clouds, migrating to Kubernetes for deployments globally, and adding world-class observability to provide the most reliable experience for our customers.We are looking for an Engineer in Reliability to join our team to help define and drive our internal initiatives to bring visibility and reliability to our global platform. Responsibilities:
- Operate infrastructure and supporting tools for the observability platform
- Develop and drive automation for integrating with observability products
- Ensure that product teams are using correct standards for instrumenting their apps with metrics, logs and traces
- Improve gathering, processing, and retention for metrics, logs, and traces
- Collaborate with engineering and support teams to reduce mean times to detect, identify, escalate, and resolve incidents
- Monitor and improve usage and cost of platform and tools
- Add instrumentation to CI/CD pipelines for better observability of deployments
Qualifications:
- A customer-first mindset, both inside and outside of the company
- Curiosity for technologies and a self-teaching approach to development
- Responsible attitudes towards outcomes, user experience, and ownership
- Testing and maintaining your work throughout the development and production lifecycles
- Must haves:
- Experience with observability platforms like DataDog, NewRelic, Wavefront, etc., or open-source tools like Prometheus, Influx, and M3.
- Experience with open-source or managed logging systems like ELK or Splunk
- Experience with major cloud service providers like AWS, GCP, Azure, or OCI
- Familiarity with basic statistics and analyzing time-series data
- Comfortable working with Ansible, Terraform, Java, Python, Docker, Kubernetes
- Would be a plus:
- Experience automating cloud infrastructure, configuration, and deployments
- Experience with containers, either Docker or Kubernetes
- Experience troubleshooting production environments
- Familiarity with common databases: MySQL, Postgres, Elasticsearch
