Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Architect to lead the data strategy for a critical legacy application modernization project. Your mission is to steer the transition from an on-premise Oracle environment to a high-performance, AWS-native data ecosystem.
This role is pivotal in redesigning relational models for PostgreSQL and NoSQL paradigms, ensuring that our modernized infrastructure is scalable, secure, and optimized for the cloud.
Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Strategy: Define the target data architecture on AWS, integrating RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL and NoSQL components (DynamoDB/MongoDB).
- Data Modeling: Analyze legacy Oracle models and design high-performance logical/physical models optimized for cloud-native access patterns.
- Migration Leadership: Govern the end-to-end migration strategy, including schema conversion, data transformation, validation, and reconciliation.
- Tool Selection: Define and implement migration workflows using tools like AWS DMS, Glue, and custom ETL pipelines.
- Governance & Security: Establish data standards, naming conventions, and robust security protocols (encryption, IAM, and auditability) to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Collaboration: Partner with Cloud Engineers and App Developers to support microservices refactoring and data persistence strategies.
- Optimization: Lead performance tuning, query optimization, and disaster recovery planning for the target environment.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
- Masters Degree in ICT or a related field.
- Equivalency: Bachelors + 4 years additional ICT experience, OR Secondary School + 7 years additional ICT experience.
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in Data Architecture.

- NoSQL: Hands-on experience with NoSQL modeling (Document, Key-Value, etc.).
- AWS Stack: Proficiency with RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, S3, Glue, and DMS.
- Patterns: Strong understanding of CQRS, event-driven data, and relational-to-NoSQL refactoring.
- Migration: Proven track record of leading large-scale migrations with minimal downtime.
Nice to Have
- Experience transitioning monolithic applications to microservices.
- Familiarity with event streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis).
- Knowledge of DataOps and CI/CD pipelines for database schema changes.
- AWS Certifications: Solutions Architect or Data Analytics Professional.
