Right now, the Product & Technology team in Athens is looking to work with a senior Go engineer contractor to enhance the impact of the Connections community. Our teamThe Connections community is responsible for providing a data platform that ingests, stores, processes, and exports data for every respondent in GWI’s surveys. The team’s domain is expanding to include data syncing with apps & platforms that are relevant to our customers. The team works flexible hours and is fully remote (and you will too, if that’s your preference). Our mission as an engineering team in the company is to: Build new and exciting platforms for our usersImprove our services through constant evolution and performance monitoringSupport other teams and our colleagues through internal toolsRaise the standards of software development throughout the company This means that on a day-to-day basis, our senior back-end engineers might be performing code reviews, delivering fast and exciting back-end services and APIs, and working with their team lead to make sure that everything is delivered on time with the agreed quality. What’s expected As the senior Go engineer contractor, you’ll be:Working within a multinational team with up to 5 people using a tech stack of Go and ReactCollaborating with other teams to integrate projects into a cohesive overall systemIdeating, brainstorming, and implementing new application componentsParticipating in tech sessions Engaging in the Dev/Ops operations and the QA of the productMaking sure the deliverable conforms to the GWI standards by following the best practices in software engineering It’s also fun; shaking things up is what it’s all about. So you’ll need to be flexible, comfortable with continuous change, and prepared to work in a high-tempo environment. About you You’ll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires. Here’s what the team will be looking for in you: Technical Demonstrable commercial experience in GoLangExcellent software development skills using both object and functional-oriented design fundamentals with a strong background in cloud applications and microservices architectureExperience with Computer Science fundamentals (data representation, data structures, algorithms) and with Test Driven Development (TDD)Knowledge and experience with continuous integration and deployment automation conceptsGood judgement, teamwork, prompt decision-making ability, responsibility, and accountabilityAbility to adapt to changing requirements and delivery timelines; Agile development experience (including tools like JIRA, Git, etc) is welcomeExperience with relational databases and SQLExcellent command of written and spoken English Competencies Experience with Golang in highly scalable environments is considered a strong plusKnowledge of functional programming languages is considered a plusBasic Dev/Ops knowledge (Google Cloud platform, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions etc) Equally important is attitude.
