Senior Python Developer Octant is a community-driven platform for experiments in decentralized governance. Developed to test various hypotheses around user control, voter engagement, and community funding, Octant will allow for running various governance experiments in a real-life environment and rewards user participation with ETH. Octant is a product of Golem Foundation who seek to fund, develop, and promote projects that further advance the vision of Golem and find new promising use cases for its native token, GLM. The Foundation is also behind Meadow , a Personal Knowledge Management tool designed to enhance human cognitive capabilities by providing a robust method for organizing the diverse information landscapes that surround us. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Python Backend Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality backend systems using Python and relevant frameworks. Strong proficiency in Python is essential. Experience with blockchain and distributed systems is a plus. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing backend services that meet the company's demanding performance, scalability, and security requirements. They will also collaborate with other engineers to ensure seamless integration and adherence to best practices. Locations: Warsaw, remote. Core responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain efficient, scalable, reliable and secure backend services using Python and relevant frameworks Collaborate with other engineers to integrate backend services with front-end applications Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues, ensuring system stability and performance Participate in code reviews and maintain high coding standards Stay up-to-date with the latest Python and backend technologies Documenting developed software to ensure its future maintainability and evolution Developing unit tests for implemented code Supporting and mentoring less experienced team members Qualifications A strong foundation or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field 5+ years of experience developing backend systems using Python or similar language Strong knowledge of Python 3 Proven experience with Python frameworks such as Django, Flask, or FastAPI Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development Understanding of WebSockets, RPC and GraphQL concepts Understanding of asynchronous programming Basic understanding of cryptography Experience with SQL databases and relational database design A sense of responsibility and ownership Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent written and verbal communication skills Nice-to-have Experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is a plus Experience with blockchain technologies and distributed systems is a plus A strong product orientation, with an ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions A passion for software development and a commitment to delivering high-quality, scalable solutions A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies A self-motivated and results-oriented individual What we offer A competitive salary, including additional incentives.
