Job Purpose and Overview Currently we are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join our BigPicture product team. Our application is one of the leading project management apps by CEOs, Managers, Directors, and Project Managers of companies such as Netflix, NASA, Tesla, Apple, Uber, Samsung, Porsche, Siemens, Intel, Boeing, LG, and many more. This role focuses on supporting our efforts of creating an efficient and positive engineering culture in the workplace. This role requires quality engineering experience and great management skills. You’ll need to understand the technical aspects of our product, while also understanding the strengths of the team in charge of building it. You’ll team up with our Technical Leaders to combine technical experience with emotional intelligence to head off workplace politics and create a safe environment that fosters success. How will you be spending your time every month? Managerial work (75%) - This includes building and supporting highly functioning and motivated teams, looking for ways to elevate their skill and reviewing their compensation plans. You will also be collaborating across functional areas to define, prioritize, and ensure implementation of specific innovation to improve technical functionality in support of business needs, efficiencies, and revenue.You’ll be managing 25-30 software developers organized in 2 to 4 teams. Some of your reportees will be managers with their own teams. Providing leadership and guidance to engineering managers and addressing resources, technical and personnel issues will also play a solid role in your work.Administrative tasks (15%) - You’ll probably spend a few hours per week reading and writing emails, answering questions in Slack, having random conversations, and doing “other” day-to-day things to support the team. You will also be responsible for communicating technical concepts to business stakeholders as well as business objectives to the technical teamRecruiting (10%) - This includes working with our employer branding team on writing blog posts to promote the company, anticipating staffing needs and contributing to recruiting efforts, and meeting with candidates to evaluate their skills.
