About your key stakeholders Regional Director, Business Development & Strategic Marketing – Continental Europe In this role, you will report to the Regional Director, Business Development & Strategic Marketing – Continental Europe, who will be reliant on you to help shape and execute a strategy that supports the goals of our Continental European business and our Global Corporate Practice. Continental European Corporate Steering Group You will drive the thinking and support a highly energetic team of Partners and Business Professionals that comprise our Continental European Corporate Steering Group, who have primary responsibility for defining and delivering the Corporate Practice strategy in Continental Europe. Many of these Partners are Corporate Practice Area Leaders in their own offices, which span France, Germany, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Italy and Central and Eastern Europe. Client Relationship Partners and Client Contacts You will also work directly with a number of client relationship partners to formulate and implement client plans for 'global' or regional key accounts of strategic importance for Europe, which will involve fostering your own working relationships with these clients. The CMD Team To meet the demands of your role, you will need to work effectively with a high-performing and highly impressive CMD team, some of whom have global and/or regional product and sector responsibilities, while others have office-wide responsibilities. In Continental Europe, we have a large CMD team member whose expertise spans business planning and strategy, business development, bid support, client relationship management, sector specialisms, internal comms, PR and campaign management. It is a collection of ambitious business development and marketing professionals who constantly motivate and inspire each other. The Broader Team You will need to work seamlessly with Partners, Associates, the Client & Market Development ("CMD") team and other Business Professional colleagues across the Firm – both in an advisory and operational capacity. About your priorities This is a brand new, exciting and crucial role, designed to support and shape strategy, formulate and implement business development and marketing plans - and, ultimately, drive profitable revenue growth from our Continental European corporate client base. Its over-arching aim is to support one of the firm's global strategic priorities: 'Leveraging the position of our leading European platform - pursuing a pan-European strategy to accelerate our position as the firm of choice for Right Work across Europe". The purpose of this role is essentially four-fold: • To help the Continental Europe Corporate Steering Group to shape the corporate strategy for Europe, prioritise the business development and marketing elements of the strategy, set metrics and measure progress; • To support key product and sector marketing programmes in Continental Europe, which will improve our market profile with the target client base, support one-to-one client conversations and, ultimately, help generate potential sales leads; • To ensure a coordinated pan-European pursuit of a portfolio of 'global' or regional key accounts of strategic importance for Europe that offer us significant and profitable cross-border and local work opportunities across the region (and beyond); and • To act as the Client Development Manager for up to three key clients that are of significant importance to our pan-European strategy. About your key Responsibilities Supporting the Continental Europe Corporate Steering Group, which will include: • Prioritising the key objectives and driving the actions that will help deliver these objectives; • Establishing a portfolio of Corporate clients that will be targeted on a pan-European basis and ensure action plans are developed and progress monitored; • Working with relevant colleagues to accelerate existing workstreams – for example in relation to antitrust, tech, ESG, inbound/outbound M&A (US and APAC) as they relate to Corporates; • Analysis and distribution of regular client and sector financial and BD data to drive strategic direction and drive targeted business development; • Collaborating with relevant colleagues to develop and implement a marketing and thought leadership plan to support the 1:1 client development activity; and • Preparation of bespoke teaser documents and off-the shelf marketing materials to pursue new business development opportunities in collaboration with the related sector leads. Client Development Management responsibility for up to 3 Corporate clients that are of strategic importance to the region, including responsibility for: o creating and refreshing client plans (including and revenue and non-revenue objectives); o driving the implementation of the client plans; o managing internal client team calls and communications; o researching and analysing the client's business to identify new opportunities; o relationship mapping and the development of new key client relationships; o preparation of internal and external client financial reporting, and drawing on the Pricing and Best Delivery Team to address any profitability issues; o responsibility for coordinating panel pitches/major cross-practice opportunities in collaboration with local and global teams and gathering regular client feedback; and o Sharing best practice with other Client Development Managers. • Ensuring "Must Win" regional Corporate client panel RFPS are strongly managed and put us in the best position to win, working in collaboration with our proposals team and other colleagues. • Working with professional support lawyers and marketing colleagues to monitor legal, sector and commercial developments of interest to Corporate clients in Europe and build successful marketing campaigns and client event programmes around hot topics in the marketplace. What experience are looking for? Experience: • Supporting a sector, product line and/or client coverage team working within professional or financial services firms; • Strategic, business development and marketing planning and implementation; • Supporting and advising a senior steering committee/ management team; • Working on thought leadership projects; • Managing complex RFPs; • Client relationship management; • Understanding of European countries cultural nuances; and • Ideally, knowledge of one or more industry sectors – e.g. Energy & Resources, Industrials, TMT, etc. Skills: • Highly motivated, a self-starter, committed to high performance; • Pragmatic combined with strong project management and analytical capabilities; • Ability to demonstrate a global perspective, with sensitivity to multiple and diverse cultures, exposure to working in global environments would be an advantage; • Strong interpersonal skills and exceptionally strong communication skills, both verbal and written (including strong editing and proofing ability and attention to detail); • Well-developed influencing and presentation skills and be confident, resilient and focused; and • Ability to demonstrate a track record of being pro-active and delivering high quality work both personally and through a team Qualifications: You will be educated to degree level or equivalent Equal Opportunities At Clifford Chance we understand that our true asset is our people.
