You need to know a little about a great number of topics like operating systems, disk management, databases, networking, performance, web sites, load balancing, security, backups, disaster recovery, project management, and configuration management.You might think that in a DevOps role you’ll spend all of your time dealing with computers and software, but you will also be dealing with a LOT of people. A typical day will have you spending as much time with other people as with the applications and tools you’re handling. Some of the types of people are: Users, Developers, Power Users, Product Owners, Other Application Administrators, DBAs, The Network team, The Security team, Help Desk.This role is not just about keeping the applications running. We are constantly looking for ways to improve the processes. As part of the technical team you are expected to contribute to this effort. A significant impact can be seen in documentation, best practices and process maturity.Solution Selling Application Suite consists of three main pillars:A BPM product (proprietary - developed in-house)Three main CRM applications (proprietary - developed in-house)Satellite services (proprietary and vendor delivered) that allow integration and interaction with the rest of the systems in the bank and outside of itThis application suite holds the front office, back office and call center applications and the processes that allow selling and maintaining the bank’s products.Our immediate mission is to modernize the development and infrastructure tech stack for this suite. We are aiming at containerized environments that are easy to use and maintain.Your day-to-day:Actively participating in transforming the design, architecture and deployment mechanism for the existing applications in order to have them thrive in a private cloud environmentMonitor the Solution Selling Application suite, document and analyze problemsLead and participate in efforts to develop and implement processes for application and system monitoringWork closely with application development teams and vendors to tune and troubleshoot applicationsMaintain system documentationConfigure environments for the application suiteCollaborate with network, OS and other devops teams to ensure proper integration of the environment(s)Develop and maintain the reporting and dashboard infrastructure for the organizationEnable best practicesMaintain SLA, System Availability, Capacity management, and Performance KPIWhat you bring to the team:A good understanding of devops practicesYou cannot imagine working without GitYou spend a lot of time interacting with tools using a cli but also understand the value of visual interactionsExcellent technical documentation affinityExperience with monitoring tools (Prometheus)Maximum comfort in at least one scripting languageExpert knowledge with Linux based systems but not a stranger of the Microsoft ecosystem - our current tech stack is Microsoft basedProven hand-on experience with container engines (Docker, CRI-O)Excellent understanding of a Kubernetes based container orchestration system. We prefer OpenShift.Good knowledge and demonstrated troubleshooting abilities on connectivity issues due to firewall, load balancer, proxy and others.Ability to effectively interface with technical and nontechnical staff at all organizational levelsExcellent problem solving/analytical skills and knowledge of analytical toolsPolite persistence is a must and it pays offNice to have:Knowledge of Web Services and Services Oriented Architecture is desirablePrevious interaction with dotnetWebServers are something you already know how to configure and troubleshoot. LoadBalancers? Not a problem! Nginx? That’s an old friend of yours!
