The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing highly skilled and compassionate engineering team who will contribute to the evolution of Verification and Validation best practices on key Wind River products. This team will collaborate on the creation and implementation of a test automation framework that will include Platforms, Tools, and Web interfaces and will span the full Wind River software delivery ecosystem, from embedded device to cloud.We're creating a critical system to speed the development of cloud and embedded connected intelligent systems, from warehouse robots to autonomous cars and even drones.The successful candidate will report to the Senior Director of Engineering and will be paramount in leading and establishing a significant, multi-functional new Romanian office within Wind River. Working closely with locally based People Team, Administration, IT, and support teams, the Director of Engineering will be the global site point of contact with ownership of driving engagement, roll-out and participation of corporate initiatives locally.ResponsibilitiesLocal site representative/leader for the entire office – tracking engagement, leading with impact, overseeing legal compliance, and ensuring the local voice is heard within the organizationManaging a team of managers and architects, contributing to ongoing releases of Wind Rivers Products including career planning, goal setting, performance assessment, coaching, performance improvement, compensation, conflict resolution, and other people management tasks.Own overall product quality process and direction of testing for the Bucharest teams.Collaborate proactively with other V&V teams to help define harmonized testing best practices.Support and enablement of quality forward best practices within the product development teams.Responsible for the regression, integration, performance, and system testing within the transversal verification and validation teams.Work to reduce complexity and improve maintainability of our testing and automation framework.Influence others and represent technical insight to customers and other engineers.Support and encourage solid engineering processes (e.g., Agile, Lean, TDD, Kanban, scrum, etc.)Working with a team of development and program managers and/or directors to coordinate work and assure delivery of projects and products.Process development and implementation for the Bucharest V&V teams.Contributing to budget allocation and monitoring.Mentor others and provide cross-team input.Interfacing to various other parts of the company such as Services, Support, Engineering Operations, and Product Management.ABOUT YOU!Core Competencies & Demonstrated SuccessVerification and Validation engineering management skills as demonstrated by experience in planning and leading multiple engineering projects using modern project management techniques; building and motivating a team to accomplish progressively aggressive goals; and superior skills in diagnosing and solving typical testing issuesPersonal skills such as: time planning and organization; nimbleness; verbal and written communications; effectiveness as a team member; enthusiastic leadership; personal drive, energy, resourcefulness, resilience and perseverance; integrity; adaptability to new and uncertain environments; a desire to improve practices and processes; and consistent, robust, pragmatic & enthusiastic leadershipThe ability to be an effective member of a team of directors and managers including: a drive to accomplish the collective goals of the team; the ability to fairly and effectively negotiate; and an attitude that puts the good of the team ahead of one's individual needs when requiredExperience in people management including career planning; performance assessments; performance improvement; setting and evaluating goals; compensation; and general care of development engineers.Agile, Lean, and Scrum evangelist and transformation agentQualificationsExtensive and relevant experience in software verification and validation.
